About College Library

The Kavery Engineering College Central Library is located on a separate floor with a built-up area of 920 square meters. It has a seating capacity of 200 students. In addition to the central library, there are departmental libraries with specific books in each department that borrow books from the central library for quick reference. The Central Library has 31663 printed books in its collection, with 14834 titles spanning all disciplines of Engineering and Technology, Science and the Humanities, and management studies.

The library offers an extensive collection of old issues of journals and publications, as well as educationally focused CDs, NPTEL Videos, E-Books, and databases, to assist the colleges’ teaching, research, and extension programmes. It includes a selection of examination questions from previous semesters, conducted by Anna University.

Under the AICTE Consortium, the Central Library subscribes to approximately 12,000 scholarly journals. The library is an early adopter of new and emerging technologies and services, and it provides online access to a large number of full-text, NDL, and J-Gate journals as well as 108 print versions of refereed journals from various publishers. We are using the Braille Blaster Software for visually impaired users.

Library Automation Software is known as ILMS. Our library automation primarily aims to eliminate library labour quickly, create a system for storing and retrieving items that are well-organized, and save time and resources while providing high-quality service. In addition to lessening the strain for library personnel in terms of cataloguing, circulation, and acquisitions, library automation makes it easier for the student body to access and utilize the library's resources quickly.

The library was fully automated in the year 2006 using the Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) AutoLib software, version 5.0 (updated 2022), it is a web based software and features of this Windows environment includes: The OPAC, which determines the status and location of a books in the library, lists the volumes that are currently available as well as the borrowing status of both print and non-print resources. It includes modules including the Master Module, Report Management Module, Circulation Control, and Bar-coding Module.

The central library includes large number of books, national and international periodicals in addition to the project reports. The center aims to facilitate production & dissemination of knowledge, information, insights & intellectual contribution in all areas of education among the academic and business community.

The library resource center is fully automated and for this we have specialized user-friendly library software called AutoLib. The center has adopted latest information technologies like CD, DVD, Multimedia Kits, Bar-code Scanners, Text and Graphic Scanners. The user community has access to the entire collection through CD, DVD, and Hard Disk.
